- Fowls intended for human consumption must not be slaughtered within 21 days after vaccination.
- Only healthy fowls should be vaccinated.
- Keep out of reach of children and uninformed persons.
- Some fowls may display mild respiratory signs after vaccination, which will disappear within a few days.
- Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a wide variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, contact a veterinarian and notify the registration holder.
- Do not mix this vaccine with any other vaccines.
- Use according to the number of doses as indicated.
- Where possible use plastic, glass or enamelled drinking troughs, free from antiseptics or disinfectants.
- Do not expose the medicated water to heat.
- Once the medicated water has been distributed, it must be used within 2-3 hours.
- The vaccine should be administered in accordance with standard aseptic conditions for vaccination.
- It is good vaccination practice when handling the vaccine to avoid contact with human eyes, hands or clothing.
- Use immediately after reconstitution.
- Used needles, syringes and vials should be disposed of in a safe manner.
USE ONLY AS DIRECTED.
Use in drinking water
- Withhold drinking water from the fowls for approximately one to two hours (depending on the ambient temperature) before vaccination to ensure that they are thirsty.
- The water troughs should be thoroughly cleaned before administering the vaccine, but disinfectants should not be used, as residues would destroy the vaccine virus.
- Drinking troughs should be free from disinfecting solutions and medications 48 hours prior to vaccination and for 24 hours after vaccination.
- Skim milk powder should be used to stabilise the vaccine virus.
- It should be dissolved in the water at a rate of 0,2% (2 g/l) before the vaccine is added.
- Dissolve the contents of the vial with a small volume of clean, cool, non-chlorinated water. Once reconstituted, mix into the required volume of drinking water according to the number and age of the fowls, season and environmental temperature.
- Distribute the vaccine-treated water so that all fowls have an opportunity to drink.
- Do not give other drinking water until the vaccine-treated water has been consumed.
- For broilers, a single administration at the age of 7-14 days is sufficient.
- In future breeding and layer fowls a first administration is advised at the age of 2-4 weeks, followed by a second between 8-12 weeks.
- The second administration must be given before the onset of lay. Do not vaccinate fowls with any other vaccine within 7 days after the administration of BI-VAC 1°.
- Freeze-dried live attenuated Massachusetts H120 strain infectious bronchitis virus: 10⁴ EID₅₀/dose.
